    Training parrying

    I have 21.3 parrying which I got from vendor. I also have 97.5 bushido and 11 dex.

    Now I have been trying to train parrying but I get no gains. I have 5 animals hitting me and I have 2h weapon equipped. My pg gets parrying animation sometimes but it never gains parrying.

    Am I doing something wrong? Why this does not gain?

    Mmm...

    Mmm... let me think! I imagine you're not at skill cap! Sure?

      Your dex must be at least 80, otherwise you won't gain even with a 2-handed weapon equipped.

        So 1% chance to parry is not enought?

            I think that 80 pts dex needed are due to the same old formula:

            Blocking with a shield:
            % Chance = (Parrying - Bushido) / 4 (If less than 0, the chance is 0)
            (Add 5% if Parrying or Bushido skill is 100 or above)
            Blocking with a 1-handed weapon (without a shield):
            New = (Parrying * 10) * (Bushido * 10) / 48000 (Add 5% if Parrying or Bushido skill is 100 or above)
            Legacy = (Parrying * 10) / 80 (Add 5% if Parrying skill if 100 or above)
            % Chance = Whichever is highest of the New and the Legacy formula.

            Blocking with a 2-handed weapon:
            New = (Parrying * 10) * (Bushido * 10) / 41140 (Add 5% if Parrying or Bushido skill is 100 or above)
            Legacy = (Parrying * 10) / 80 (Add 5% if Parrying skill if 100 or above)
            % Chance = Whichever is highest of the New and the Legacy formula.
            In particular
            Dexterity Modifier if dex is less than 80: (80 - Dexterity) / 100 (If Dexterity is higher than 80, the modifier is 0)
            Final % Chance of blocking = Base Chance * (1 - Dexterity Modifier)

              Ok thanks. No I've been trying to get my dex up by using pickpocket dip. For some cool reason my dex does not gain. Stealing is at 10.1 like it should. Umm.. I dont know what to do. Cant get parrying up and cant get dex up. is this supposed to be like this? I mean I never ever had problems like this. Or am I just having a very bad day today?

                To get your dex up with the pickpocket dummy you have to take your stealing skill to 0, then reach the skill cap, and set all your skill locked, beside stealing which must be rising.Then you can use the dummy, and your dex will go up.

                  Mmm...

                  Instead of stealing you can use, under the conditions described by EntropicDeath, also Detecting Hidden! A stats gains one point every 15 minutes! So go on!
                  Try to reach the skill cap with the easyest skill to improve: meditation and focus (the are fast in gain too)

                    I bring this up just to say that I soulstoned my 97.5 bushido. Then I got parrying from 0 to 120 in 55 minutes.

                    a tip: dont ever try to get bushido before parrying if it's a new pg without stats (80 dex) ^^

                      I agree and stratics forum too, but once a player creates a new "uncorrect" template (and do not want to delete it) there are always some solutions... slow but concrete...
