Ok here in Dreams, when you activate Bushido Lightning strike, and miss a hit, the LS button deactivates, and it consumes the mana anyway
Just tested it in Official servers, and it works exactly as a special move, if you miss the hit, it doesnt deactivate, and of course it doesnt consume mana
